COVID 19 Update 17/06/20

How things will be different when you visit us
Here at Crescent Dental Care, we would like to thank you for your patience during what has been a testing time for everyone. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back as safely and as quickly as possible.

Initially, there will be a phased return and we will be contacting patients who have experienced a dental emergency from our priority list – we kindly ask you to be patient with us. Some treatments may be postponed until we have the necessary PPE (personal protective equipment.)

Patients can only be seen by appointment only


What is a dental emergency?

  • Severe dental pain that does not subside with painkillers
  • Facial swelling that is compromising breathing, swallowing or eyesight
  • Dental trauma resulting in a tooth being broken and knocked out
  • Heavy bleeding that does not stop after applying pressure with a damp gauze

Your experience with our practice will be slightly different; this is so we can adhere to COVID-19 guidelines.

We would kindly like to ask all patients to attend a pre-planned appointment alone where possible, only bring essential belongings and also to use their own bathroom prior to attendance.



Once you have been identified as needing an appointment, our practice will call you to make your appointment – this involves us asking you medical history and COVID-19 consent and screening questions. You will be asked these questions again at your appointment by a dentist.

We will be taking a card payment over the phone for an urgent appointment – this is the NHS band 1 charge of £22.70. If you get any treatment done during your appointment, this will take the charge of the appointment upto the NHS band 2 or band 3 charge and this payment will be taken at the end of your appointment before you leave.

Once an appointment has been made, for you the receptionist will give you all of the details regarding your appointment and advise you that same day treatment is not guaranteed – the dentist may decide to bring you back for a second appointment for treatment.



The outside door will be locked due to our closed door policy.
You will wait in your car until a member of our team calls you and asks you to enter the practice.

A nurse wearing personal protective equipment will be waiting at the foyer to greet you. We are still the same friendly faces behind the PPE.

You will enter the foyer and have your temperature taken.

If your temperature is 37.8 or higher – we will not be able to see you.

You will then be asked to use your own pen to sign any forms required.

You will then be asked to sanitize your hands using hand sanitizer.

You will be given a surgical mask to wear.

You will be asked to put any coats or belongings into a plastic box provided.

You will be escorted into the surgery by a member of staff.

Please maintain social distancing when the foyer door is opened for you. The internal doors will already be open for you so that you do not have to touch door handles.



You will be escorted into the appropriate treatment room and asked to take a seat, remove your mask.

Our clinical team will be using extra personal protective equipment in line with current recommendations.

Whilst our PPE (personal protective equipment) may make us appear impersonal and distant, please be assured we are still the same friendly team underneath it all!

Be assured that every treatment room is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, before and after each visit.

Some treatment, such as those with the ultrasonic scaler or the high-speed drill, creates aerosols – tiny droplets of water that could potentially spread the virus. For this reason, the way we provide some treatment may be altered or postponed to minimise risks to you and the team.

Your treatment may be carried out under a rubber dam which is a piece of equipment that isolates the tooth we are working on.



You will be asked to re-apply your mask and will be met by a member of staff outside the surgery door.

You will be escorted to collect your belongings & asked to use the hand sanitizer & leave the practice through a different exit to where you entered.

If you have any questions after your appointment and have left the surgery, please call us to discuss. For safety reasons our aim is to minimise the amount of time, you spend in the practice.

If within 14 days of your appointment you begin to develop any symptoms of possible COVID-19, such as a high fever or a new continuous cough, you should contact us to inform us and follow the appropriate self-isolation advice.

COVID-19 – Reopening of Dental Practices Update 29/05/20

The Chief Dental Officer has now announced that dental practices across England will be allowed to begin the process of reopening for all face-to-face appointments from 8th June.
Throughout the pandemic, our first priority is the well-being of our Patient’s and colleagues and this continues to be the case.
There is still a lot of work going on behind the scenes and we will only be reopening once we are satisfied that we have all the necessary processes and personal protective equipment in place to ensure your safety.
In the meantime please do not attempt to make a new appointment. If you need advice, or if your are in need of urgent dental treatment, you should continue to contact the practice on 0191 4604182 where we will be able to help you.

Covid-19 Update 23/03/20

For the safety of everyone, Crescent Dental Care is following government guidelines to help control the spread of COVID-19, we are now closed for all routine and non urgent dental care.


We are still open for advice and emergency dental care.

National Smile Month

National Smile Month at Crescent Dental Care 

National smile month is the UK’s largest and  long- running campaign to promote good oral health. National Smile month highlights key messages which go along way in helping develop and maintain a healthy mouth.  

Main three key messages 

  • Brush your teeth last thing at night and at least one other occasion through out the day for two minutes, using a fluoride toothpaste
  • cut down on how often you have sugary drinks and foods 
  • Visit your dentist regular 

Here at Crescent Dental Care the team have made a display board which will be on show in our waiting room, the board is filled with top tips and advice from us on keeping a healthy mouth!

Welcome to the team Seana!

We would like to welcome Seana O’Brien to crescent dental care as our new hygienist! Seana will be joining the team on Friday 30th June 2017 and will be working Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Clare is now on maternity leave and will be returning in the New Year.

Mr Lalli & Wilson are available to see Clare’s patients until her return.



Farewell Deborah!

After 20 years in dentistry, 10 as a dental nurse and 10 as a dental hygienist I have decided to pursue a career in a very different field.

I have always wanted to work with animals and as I have two dogs of my own (Ralphy & Ruby) I have decided to advance my knowledge in dog grooming, so I can become a qualified dog groomer and hopefully set up my own business in the future.

I have worked at Crescent Dental Care for 9 years this is the longest practice I have worked in not only for the lovely patients I have met and got to know over this time but I have made amazing friendships with all the staff here, they are and will continue to be my friends and I thank them for their support in what was a very hard decision to make,

but in life sometimes you have to take risks and here’s hoping I can make many dogs and owners very happy like I have the patients here

The Great Christmas Bake off 

All staff at Crescent Dental care took part in baking Christmas themed cakes to raise money for the Salvation Army, we asked for a small donation from anyone who wanted to try one of our very tasty cakes.
